  • All imported goods must be declared to customs and accompanied by a detailed inventory list.
  • Personal-use household items are generally eligible for duty-free importation, subject to local customs regulations.
  • Certain items such as food, plants, medications and restricted goods may require special permits.
  • Keep purchase receipts and proof of value for all items to facilitate customs clearance.

Items requiring a permit

• Food: Processed foods, dairy products, egg products (require a permit) Traditional Chinese medicinal herbs (require approval from Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health) • Plants and Animals and Their Products: Fresh fruits, vegetables, plant seeds, soil; Raw meat, cooked meat, processed meat products (sausages, dried meat); Endangered wildlife products (ivory, tiger bone, rhino horn) • Cultural Items: Buddha statues, antiques, handicrafts (require approval from the Fine Arts Department) • Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals: Highly toxic chemicals, pesticides, insecticides Prescription drugs require a doctor’s certificate and a permit

Important Reminder
